About London Heathrow Airport
Heathrow Airport is one of the most well-known in the entire world. It began during the First World War, as a small field used for aviation. It has sense grown to huge proportions, and the first slab of what is now considered to be modern runway was placed down by the Queen in 1953.
London is very close to Heathrow, a mere fifteen minutes away, and has many attractions -- local pubs, modern markets, and historical sites. Buckingham Palace and the British Museum are both close, and are must-see attractions for those first visiting the city.
There are many places to eat in London, if one has the time for that; if not, there are a number of smaller restaurants in Heathrow as well, including The Bridge Bar and the Skylark. For the morning traveler, there is the Costa, a coffee house. Outside, transportation is easy to find, with terminals for taxi cabs. These can connect with bus routes that will take one across the entire city, to see all of the sites that one desires.
